shameless thievery
Why do people brag about stealing chess videos
Because stealing chess videos brings back pleasant and stimulating nostalgia about the war between Betamax and VHF. The pleasure of stealing a video on checkmate with queen and king against king is like an orgasmatron and ghetto blaster all at once.
It occurs to me that everything I've said on this issue really refers to the situation in U.S. law. I really don't know what the legal situation is in other countries, But I know there are lots of international agreements about "Itellectual Property," and they are all tilted in favor of the large media companies.
In any case: don't steal videos! And when the big media companies tell you how much piracy costs them every year, divide that figure by ten and you'll be closer to the truth
no i dont steal anyway, i buy my stuff, i just thought i have read something about it in the newspaper. Also there are people who argue that piracy even helps the companies because its like free advertisement, even though i believe that is a bit of stretch.
I think many people don't consider copying a video the same as stealing. In one sense, they're obviously right: when I make a copy of your video, you still have the video; if I stole your HF television, only one of us would have a TV!
But the law doesn't make such fine distinctions! So it's illegal to copy videos, and really stupid to talk about it!
It depends on the country, if he lives in a country were its legal, its definetly not a crime. Im not hundred % sure but i think i read that in france its legal, at least for music i think.
