Why do people not draw?

I keep trying to play draws but i've already had 3 people call me out and call me a pussy. Doesn't make sense, what's wrong?

ivandh

People are stupid.

TheronG12

What do you mean by you keep trying to play draws?

I wanna draw with people but I had 3 say no and some mean stuff

AussieMatey

I'll draw with you - are we using pens, pencils, crayons, textas ...... ?

Were you offeriing a draw when they were winning? If so, then it's understandable.

kleelof

Here, I drew for you:

Sometimes that, but mainly end games involving pawns only

If your opponent is winning, you shouldn't offer a draw and it's understandable if your opponent is unhappy, though that doesn't justify the response.

If it's an even pawn endgame, I won't take a draw because I win them all the time, but there's no reason not to offer it and nobody has any business complaining.

the opponents who wont accept a draw in a R+K vs R+K and try to run you out on time are the worst.

Good thing that you can claim the draw according to FIDE rules (if there is no time increment), so this is not a problem OTB.

Murgen

Time losses can be avoided (mostly) by using an increment.

Then if a game is positionally equal the worst case scenario is simply waiting until the 50 Moves rule can be invoked.

Why doesn't chess.com have a 3 fold repetition rule in chess?

472rating

they do, but you must hit draw button

i assume this thread is about blitz chess on this website, and not OTB as people who play OTB have more common sense.

A few moments ago, I was playing with you and I was in a clearly dominant position. You kept offering draws, when I explained that I wouldn't accept because I was clearly winning, you said, and I quote "I'll play and kill your family".

Now, I understand frustration which coupled with anonymity creates keyboard lions. However this is one of the few websites which is actually fun because people tend to understand that this is a game.

Please remember this for the next time we play.

That's not the way chess works. While you can offer a draw in such a situation, don't ever expect someone to take it. The goal is to win and if they are winning that is exactly what they are going to try and do.

This is my last reply.

(a) I didn't expect you to admit anything, but before posting, I made sure to take a screenshot.

(b) And here I am trying to be helpful, why do you care about points? If you are losing a game it will match you up with a more appropriate opponent next time, which will help you improve your game. What is wrong in losing points on a free website that was designed to help people improve their game? If I can make a suggestion, be less focused in losing points, since they don't mean anything, and more in improving your game.

(c) I am sad that there won't be a next time, despite the last remarks in the chat, I enjoyed the game. But hey, that is your choice.
