why do people think so lowly about 1000 elo?

What's the point of being a high-rated player if you can't sneer arrogantly at the low-rated players?
You politically-correct types would take all the fun out of it.

Emus eat puppies and kittens.
Also beetles, mothgrubs, cockroaches, spiders...
Yum, yum, yum.

Yes it should be taken as a privilege that their social betters are gracing the forums with our presence. Just be grateful for every insult and say "thank you sir may I have another".

But that's not inclusive to the people who don't want to play well or put in the effort.
This is a keen insight into the motivations of most people who take up chess. Success, even doing something well, does not motivate.
Boomers, too, are addicted to mediocrity. But, they see it as a defect.

Sneering at people weaker than you isn't very woke.
An important advantage, right there.

In my experience, the game review tends to overestimate ratings. I haven't done a systematic verification of that but do have that impression.

On chess.com I tend to find it underrates actually, on other sites such as Chesskid.com, it overrates.

Interesting.....okay. Guess that being rated over 2000 seemingly each time my opponent blunders badly, and getting 2450 in a silly game that definitely wasn't, left a certain impression.

Obviously everyone has different views based on their experiences, plus all 2000+ play like IM's.

I'm guessing this is partially a joke, but wokeness or not, I thought most people are taught arrogance isn't a positive quality.
I tend to have this mindset: “Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man... It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone.” C.S. Lewis
Idk about others, but if my pleasure comes from putting down someone else, I'd take it as a sign that something is wrong.
Don't you sass me cat-lips. I will shave you.

Scathing.
