Hey, fool - I don't write threads like this every day. Or even every year, but I get disconnected on constantly. And if your worried about my bloodpressure - don't, at least I vented. I worry more about you - thinking yourself a psychoanalyst, but merely a sociopathic troll.
Why do you ask for community feedback then appear to ignore it?
Do you expect all the sites you're subscribed to to keep you in the loop about changes they are working on?
''Team, gather round. We're working on this new feature, better quickly email that now_and_zen guy so he knows we're on it''
@dts3 - it's been a long time and I've seen a lot of complaints, and mostly just idiots like @kaynight trolling them to death and no changes. But apparently, a person with good will, they exist too, fortunately, just clued me in, there is something in the works to improve the disconnect situation.
What's really annoying is when crybabies whine about how unhappy they are in the forums like you expect us to be able to help you. WE DON'T CARE SEND YOUR COMPLAINTS TO STAFF OR QUIT.
I don't care.I am under no illusions about that).
Maybe you care a little or why did you bother saying you didn't?
Hi Chess.com Administration - I know it is futile to post valid complaints and recommendations, because you stubbornly protect your policies right or wrong. I know mentioning it just makes me a target. But today I don't care.
The last guy that disconnected on me today, making me wait over 2 minutes was the last straw when I saw he's been pulling the same stunt here for *2 years*. So seriously considering canceling my Premium Membership of 3+ years and look for another chess site (I know that doesn't matter to you, I am under no illusions about that).
Your lack of responsiveness, I have to assume, is because you're virtually a monopoly, so you don't have to be responsive (kind of like the old joke: "AT&T - We don't care. We don't have to."
People who gripe or seriously care about this stuff are in minority and don't affect your bottom line, so they are inconsequetial. You remind me of Comcast. Barring better alternatives your revenue stream is protected.
For years, many members have complained bitterly about disconnectors. You ignore them, and let habitually abusive forum trolls walk all over their threads .
And you only let us change our handles once? Why? Does the policy *really* make as much sense as the goal of preventing the abuse of the privilege? This isn't the DMV or SSI Administration. I pay for my account. I've been here for years, I'm bored with the handle and want to try a different one. Why not just set a reasonable *interval* so problematic handle-hoppers couldn't abuse the privilege, like StackOverflow.com, does? They allow handle change once per month. Why wouldn't that model work just as well? You don't think that's a StackOverflow is serious enough, intelligent enough to make a good policy? They are way more sophisticated than chess.com is (if you don't believe me examine their administration/moderation/use model). If they can facilitate it, why can't you?
Some of your policies may be rooted in good intentions, but their implementation just doesn't make sense. But you don't adapt to find the best ideas when they occur. You seem to value your power authority over intelligence or faireness.
It must be nice to have the power and $$$ to be callous. But just because you can do that, doesn't mean you should do it.
I mentioned awhile back that the reason I've (rarely) and accidentally disconnected, was when I shift from the computer to playing a game or few on my phone and miss or forget the confirmation screen when I select the resign option and exit the restaurant or bathroom or wherever it may be (humor).
Therefore, I suggested at the right forum here years ago adding one more small, easy, preference that simply allowed advanced users to disable resign confirmation requirement, similarly to how you let live chess users disable move confirmation requirement. I thought that was a *great* idea and would prevent a lot of accidental disconnects or game abandoments. But the new app came out. No such feature. Meanwhile disconnectors run rampant and you haven't seemed to do a thing about it in years.
Do you really have better ideas always? Or are you just stubborn and petty?
