Because of its mystery and surprising possibilities.

The thing I like about chess is that there is an interaction with another human being, yet, no words are involved. A bit like tango; you dance but fight at the same time.

I like it because even if you know a little bit of opening theory the games always seem unique after a few moves.

Because it's fun

It's fun! It's both familiar & surprising. It teaches me to trust myself but to know that I really don't have all the answers.

Because every so often, it makes me very, very happy.

I love chess because it's straight-forward and relaxing. There's no pressure, you take your time to learn it, you take your time to play. It's democratic, clean, thrilling.

I love that it combines creative and strategic thinking and that you can play the game in so many different ways. Different openings, positional vs. attacking. I think there is so much to learn on every level of the game and I love learning :-)
