It is only american society, which glorify success and economics, that hates chess. In Europe we are more sophisticated and here we appreciate chess. Especially in Eastern-Europe but West-Europe as well.

Step off your little pedistool and take a look at the way things really are. I'm tired of all you a-holes denoting American and calling us arrogant f*cktards or other things of the sort. There is nothing wrong with being American. Not all of us are far or retarded. It's like saying all Europeans have their heads up their *sses

Not very sophisticated way to react, yankee, try to comment more intellectually. Start reading some wice books. Go to library or university. Perhaps to Oxford in England. If you get there. Probaply not.

If society hates chess how it occurs? I think in no way, so you are little paranoids.

Exactly.
It's the same silly post that you can see everywhere, where teens are complaining about pop music and how you're looked down when you don't follow the crowd.
Pretty ridiculous.
We're on a site that has over  12 million players.
That's more than numerous countries' whole population, and just as Pink Floyd has one of the most famous and succesful album in the history of modern music, there's always one kid that says that "real music" is despised by society.

I agree with you that society does not hate chess, but your comparison to Pink Floyd isn't exactly appropriate, or I should say, isn't exactly analogous. Music is a lot more of an art element than chess is; not claiming that chess isn't art, just claiming that music is much more art. To the point: music is much more subjective. Also, you have to consider Pink Floyd maybe an exception to the rule; I'm not saying it actually is, but it some cases it may be. You would have to define "real music" and "society", because, what society are we talking about?

I do agree with you, that society doesn't hate chess. They're merely ignorant about it.

I did not try to compare Pnk Floyd to chess.
I was comparing this post to those silly posts.

Well, my point was that, it depends on what kind of society are we talking about. For instance, I know the society of my city in particular has a pretty bad taste in music, at least in my opinion, but not so much outside the city. But in the case of chess, I don't know of any society that hates chess.

Chess: It's like alcohol. It's a drug. I have to control it, or it could overwhelm me. I have a regular Monday night game at my home, and I do play a little online.
