Why don't players concede?

Why do so many players play on when they've already lost? So many players won't quit and it's boring AF. I get bullet is a little different but if you lose your queen on the third move just quit please I don't want to play a boring game. Do these people cling to their ratings so much?

because I win a lot when my opponents slip up... or stalemate me happy.png when it's still fun I'll play, and you can't convince me otherwise...

luck? Really? How is it luck if we find counterplay and win a potentially losing position because our opponent didn't stop our plan? I assume every time you lose it's only because your opponent got *lucky* and you messed up.

Different people feel differently about resigning.

I never resign. If you want to beat me you need to beat me. That's the game

"I want everyone to play on my terms"

You do realize that's impossible, right? The rules of chess do not allow playing on when someone has already lost. When someone resigns, are checkmated, or disqualified they cannot play on.

Now if it's a game where the game is over and someone has lost and both parties want to play on just for fun, to see what would happen if different moves were made, of course. Then play on as much as they want. But there is no "play on" when a game is already lost.

At one tournament I was directing, there was a game between an adult and a kid where the adult told the kid "I concede" and the kid had no idea what that meant!

Take reality for example. The Deep State knows that America has won the information war, but they won't resign. They just push, and push and push and push hoping that the Patriots will mess up.

The only way to make your opponent resign, is to out right destroy her.

The "Deep State" is a myth propagated by fear-mongers.  Stop bringing up your spam politics in the forums.

Yeah?  And it still possible to win without a queen.

the word concede is a rare one to use. i last saw it on a famous cardgame 'hearthstone'. maybe OP is a fan of hearthstone.

Are you hiding some knowledge mythical creatures hunnie? I thought trolls were a mere myth of viking legends... perhaps some underground creatures who have escaped the spectacles of scientists... as of now...

That's the thing, in many situations the player will often blunder their queen within the first 30 seconds as well and then you've got a game again. At least when playing people rated under 1450 in my experience.
