Why everyone thinks he/she is smarter?

How about egocentricity?

trysts

I think the conversation I just had about viewing this question from the perspective of "self-esteem" and the manifold ways in which people with low self-esteem, for instance, may persuade one to view the "average person" differently than others, is important:)

I reckon most drivers think themselves better than the average driver because they value some things about the way they drive (fast, safe, good at manoeuvring) to be more important than others, and they are  good at that thing.  Probably the same with intelligence.

I know very witty people who don't know their tables, and brilliant mathematicians who can't drive a car.  All require some degree of intelligence of some sort.

I also think you need to be pretty smart to judge another person's smartness accurately which sort of agrees with chess_gg.  That's the same with many things though.

Also self-esteem is a big driver in these things.  Though people who tell me they are not very bright are usually (not always) right it seems to me.

The Nine Types of Intelligence

http://skyview.vansd.org/lschmidt/Projects/The%20Nine%20Types%20of%20Intelligence.htm

before someone thinks he is smarter than the average person he should be smarter in all 9 intelligences.

however the old school system would only acknowledge two intelligences:

Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Number/Reasoning Smart)

Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart)

You can build a shield of muscle.

A shield of military gung-ho.

A shield of status.

A shield of money.

A shield of looks.

A shield of fame.

A shield of know it all.

A safety behavior to protect oneself. A refuge for oneself....

Why everyone thinks he/she is smarter?

I don't know why the others think so, but for me it's because it's true.

How come I'm the first to make it in three pages of comments ?

I guess intelligence when it comes to driving is how drivers face new situations or unexpected situations.

and my take on intelligence is how you approach unknown challenges.

therefore I think you can never take an IQ test more than once.

an example:

10 8 11 9 12 10 next number?

first time you see this exercise you need to work out the system.(-2,+3)

next time you see something similiar - it is just another exercise no intelligence is required you rely on memory.

if you want to measure intelligence you have to test people how they work out the logic on something they have never seen before.

therefore most IQ test aren't valid because most people have seen IQ test more than once before they say they get 150.

I guess everyone could score that high if you study the logic behind each IQ test. however IQ test isn't meant to be studied.

Try a Mensa test; you'll be hard pressed to get 150 on it no matter how many IQ tests you have done.

I am not taking IQ test many times. I am talking about reading about each test and how each should be Interpretated.

you can read big books about it I have seen.
