umad?

1- if you play only against weaker players because you are afraid to lose, you win few rating points when you win and lose a lot when you lose. That's logic.
2- search a bit the forums. The disconnection issue is due to your internet connection. As for the opponents stalling over a game, get over it.
3- huh ? You mean, they play badly ? Just set your rating options so that you are paired with stronger players. I guarantee you will see things differently.

He probably means rude. But seeing his comments along this thread he seems no different.

i had only one "rude" comment towards the indian guy who thinks he's smart! im a very sociable player and i enjoy a good, well behaved company. i have no respect for patronisers and smartasses! all other opinions and advice is welcomed!

I notice that of your last 40 games, not one was against a player your rating or higher. In fact in most of the games you played against players 200 points or more beneath yours. This would account for the "barely going up, but dropping a lot".
Disconnects are due to poor internet connection. I don't play a lot of live chess except in OTB torunaments, but my son plays an average of 2 15-10's per day. In the past nine months he has been dropped twice... once when my daughter decided to unplug the router, once for reasons unknown. It is hard to point fingers at chess.com when so many of us have no issue.
And as far as your third point goes, that is your opinion. I am 40 and have been online since before the world wide web was available. People are people, trolls are trolls and anonymity breeds antisocial behavior. I would consider your post to be "I'm taking my ball and going home" and antisocial as well, especially when the issues are on your end, not chess.com's.

The disconnection issue is due to your internet connection.
You aren't that ignorant, are you? This has been disputed many many times in the forums, you know it and still repeat the same nonsense. Actually I think it is the server's issue and/or the data exchange between Live server and player's computer is extremely high for a simple chess game, which I call bad programming. No problems watching Youtube videos, no disconnections whatsoever, only Live chess games stall, reconnect and diminish clocks, resulting in losses on time.
The OP is right: Live chess here does not meet common standards. I see chess.com as primarily correspondence chess site.

If your theory were correct, everyone would have the problem. Youtube buffers significantly to deal with connection problems, so that is not a valid test of your internet connection. Set up a continual ping, route it to a text file and see how many packets you are losing when one of these disconnects take place.

If it were "bad programming" wouldn't it universally impact everyone? The only "connection issues" I've ever had were on my mobile devices associated with the App. Perhaps it's a browser issue? I run Chrome on my Mac. I can't speak for all browsers and their interation to this site, but I can bet Microsoft Internet Exploder will ruin your exerience here and everywhere else. but hey - that's just me. I'm a microsoft hater.

I have no evidence in hand, but I suspect the net system of Live chess servers. It may be a surprise for you, but Live chess is not provided by single computer acting like central server, but quite a lot computers around the world connected together. I suspect it might be rather crappy connection between some of them than user's own internet connection.
I am not an IT expert, but I would expect videos require at least 100-times more data traffic than chess game (FEN, move(s), timestamp)

it can be frustrating to be disconnected but i get back on the horse losing at chess can be a misnomer as you never lose you just learn

Word.

I used classic IE under Windows first. Then I switched to Mozilla Firefox.
The situation was getting worse with time. Connection troubles were rare at first - almost nonexistent, but later it happened in almost every game.

2 is absolutely true. With a solid Internet connection the forum is solid as a rock. I've got a good provider where I live now and have not had a disconnect from my end for months and months. Maybe over a year.
