Maybe I should have posted this post in the section 'off topic'... I was not sure so I posted here.... Here are my thoughts: the best way to play chess is against one opponent on a real chessboard. For this reason I became a member of a local chess club and I try to play with my friends on real chessboards everytime is possible to do so, but I am the first to admit that a site like chess.com will offer to you things that "real life chess" will not: not only the opportunity to play, if you want, hundreds of games in all kinds of formats but also allows you to focus on tactical exercises, learn strategy and tactics watching the video lessons and other sources, read and write stuff on this forum etc etc etc - all of this in one place. But - this is what makes the online experience even better, as far as I am concerned - playing online gives you the opportunity to play against people from over the Wordl. I use internet since 2003 so I should be used to this, but I still find exciting the idea to play chess (or chat or any other kind of human interaction) with someone, say, in Brazil or Australia or Tobago. It's just fantastic, don't you think? And strictly talking about chess, I think that in a game like this is really important the exchange of ideas, which help the development of the game itself
