Why is Chess way better than checkers?

fact of the matter checkers is kind of boring and the pieces are dull, ugly, and lack character. i also don't like the fact that the pieces don't have different roles and purposes. also in chess the underdog can still win with little pieces if playing well.

Chess isn’t harder.  It is different and I won’t even listen to the opinions of those who haven’t played both and played them seriously.

Both are good games. Different from each other. I believe checkers only gets compared to chess because the most well known checker in the west uses the same board.

Chess has been a game since the 7th century. It’s pursued throughout history as the world’s most famous board game. Checkers is fun but chess requires more skill and is a lot funner. (In my personal opinion)

Not really. Chess players like to think so and it’s a delusion. It is a good game. With titled players. Named openings. Endgames to study. Most people don’t realise the depth of checkers. Just view it superficially.

Let us respect other games.

If only checkers has a Standard, checkers will rival chess in popularity. Presently too many variants. English draught, Brazilian checkers, Russian checkers and so on...

Checkers is definitely better than chess because it's simpler and quicker to learn. In checkers, you don't need to spend hours studying complex strategies or worrying about sacrificing your pieces. It's a game where anyone can jump in and have fun. Its much more straightforward and accessible board game experience. Chess definitely has way too many complicated rules for somebody having to choose which board game to learn for the first time.

I have books with hundreds of pages on checkers. People who say that don’t understand the game.

Difficult because different regions of the world have their local variants. It is an issue.

People who say what? I was talking about the comparison between learning the rules/objectives in comparison between chess & checkers. Checkers will have it's own complexities at an advanced level of play, but is certainly much easier to learn compared to chess

Not really.

Kookaburrra

It is easier to learn initially but to master it like chess takes a lifetime.

Kookaburrra

It’s actually more difficult to be a titled player in checkers than in chess.

Potato_Cat123

I think chess uses more skill.

EpicChessDud
