eh, Im kind of over playing rated for now. Would prefer to play stress-free games while being able to maintain my rating. My stats indicate I’m pretty hard-stuck at 1900 level anyway

That would be the reason why, though - the vast majority of games played are rated, which is the default. It would be a much smaller player pool playing unrated games.
You could also try lichess and see how quickly you get an unrated game over there at these times. Would be interesting because (I think) their founder is French and their servers are based in Europe.

Fair enough. I was just surprised at the difference between time periods despite other regions also having huge playerbases. Will give your suggestion a try!
Trying to seek unrated games between these times, sometimes the matchmaking takes upward of 5 or 10+ mins. Outside these times it takes about 1 min. I guess the assumption would be most users are sleeping then, but what about India, Asia, and European countries? They make up a huge portion of the playerbase and this would be prime-time for them. Does matchmaking prioritize your own region or something?
