I believe we should all join as brothers and call the bishops elephants.

I will no longer say alfil, I will say elefante.

COME ON ALL EUROPE AND SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES REFFER TO IT AS ELEPHANT STUFF.

CALL IT ELEPHANT, NOT BISHOP.

OK Lets call the pieces what they look like, omitting the word plastic or wood from them:

Ball Head, Pimple Head,Cross Head,Horse Head,Slit Head and Turret Head Perhaps then  omit 'head':

Ball,Pimple, Cross, Horse,Slit,Turret.

Then rename openings: The Four Balls Attack against the Alekhine; Pimple Gambit, Cross Gambit; The Two Horses Defence; The Slit Opening;

Galicians call it bishop.

In Germany the Knight is a Jumper and the Bishop a Runner.

In France the Bishop is a Fool.

It's taken for granted that someone's riding the horse. It's not just an unaccompanied horse. That would make it more difficult to command.

when my horse head blunders, i always blame the rider.
