Queens may be the most powerful and versatile but they are certainly not indispencible. The king is the only piece that matters in chess. The other pieces are just there to defend the king help kill the other king.

It's without question - a matriarchal game.
In fact, I'm quite certain the queen is not happy sacrificing herself for the good of the fiefdom. But, just she knowing she has the possibility to resurrect upon a pawn coronation lifts her strength (tho' not that she lacked much anywayz).

And something else, when both queens are on the board, there's balance - as it was 1000 years ago. If one is gone, the other will dominate. It's a beautiful thing really, wouldn't you say ?
