Not photoshop. Hikaru was streaming with him the other day and Hikaru gave him the GM title while they had their streaming chess lesson. He said something to the effect of xQc being a GM streamer. I guess Hikaru has that level of access.

He hasn't got the titled indicator now - it may have been the easiest way to set it up for the streamer tournament. It's probably why @Pokimane currently has the WGM title as well - after the tournament, she may revert to premium Diamond membership like @xQcow1 has now.

This is how it works: xQc is more popular than chesscom or Hikaru. Hikaru and chesscom flatter xQc and make him feel like a chess celebrity. xQc continues to play chess and bring attention to chesscom and Hikaru. Everyone wins except for tightly-wound chess purists who get their tighty-whities all up in a bunch because reasons.
Personally I dislike xQc but I don’t have a problem with this. I do roll my eyes, though.

If this is just some weird attempt to get me to reveal what kind of panties I wear, I'm not going to play that game, unless xQc were to ask me directly.
Im not familiar with xqc except from hearing about him on this site but I agree with the popularity/business idea completely. If Naka & this site wanna team up with him it's just smart, not necessarily sucking up.
