Why isn't Chess.com Muting/Banning people posting anti-Russian Racism?

Why is it suddenly ok for people to discriminate against Russian people, the majority of whom have no say over the war, and talk about banning them from the site, or not playing against them, or boycotting against them?

This is literally violating chess.coms Community guidelines, and theyre doing it deliberately. You can have whatever opinion you want about the situation in Ukraine, but this is a chess site, not a politics or political movement site.

The fact that chess.com is doing nothing against people posting this disgusting crap is showing volumes about the biased double standard moderating thats going on.

Can you imagine if someone made a post saying African people shouldn't be allowed on the site, or that they should be boycotted? The community would lose its mind and the perpetrators would get instantly muted, most likely banned. What makes it funnier is a lot of these posters are American or European people, from countries that have killed more people in needless invasions in the middle east and what not than Russia ever has.

no one ever seems to complain then. chess.com, get ur act together

Why ask here? You should contact chess.com if it's that important to you.

Chess.com please do get your act together and ban all russian IPs ... we need to pressure the country more in anyway to stop their criminal acts.

Kowarenai

not this again...

Chess.com's not going to do that. If they banned all the Russians, they'd just be handing members over to Lichess and losing income from memberships.

Ronster1970

Yep ... agree they make too much $$ out of Russia, thus unwilling unlike many other companies to do the right thing.

Banning people on a chess website won't stop a war.

I saw your profile, and there are certainly people who are being racist towards your. I suggest you contact chess.com to handle this. I believe FIDE's measures against russian players are not because of their actions, but the russian government's actions. Although it effects the russian people, it is the only way for FIDE to enforce opposition against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

So if Russia kills fewer people, that's fine.

Sort of... but that's not really what I meant. I don't see how banning online chess accounts is going to help at all. It'll just annoy the Russians and they'll either just download a VPN or something and keep playing on chess.com or go to Lichess. Those that stay on chess.com could also make some angry messages on the forums and that's just too much for the poor old moderators to handle.
