Why Love Blitz Games?

I am a decent beginner level chess player.  I enjoy playing 10 minute, 15 minute, or correspondence style games.  But I see it's hugely popular to play blitz games.  The best players seem to almost exclusively play blitz games.  Why?   To play an entire game in 2-3 minutes is really difficult.  No time for thinking or strategy.  It makes chess more like an arcade game.  I just don't get it.

Please explain to me why you love playing blitz games.  Do you learn any skills from it? Does it reinforce bad habits?  Why is this so addicting?  Then, it's so fast moving ... are there some shortcuts for movement because clicking pieces seems to consume much of the time.

It's fun.

Bullet in real life is fun when you are against a player or similar strength. I believe blitz is also a drug. It can be addicting and fun, at the same time it can melt your mind away if you exhaust yourself too much. This happens to me all the time but for me, it's worth it.

Because no one takes online chess seriously, blitz is just to have some fun, and there can be a lot of strategy on a blitz game, you can´t simply win a blitz game by shuffling pieces around.

I hate blitz and despise bullet, but I'm an addict. I cannot quit.

Because Chessbrah Building Habits makes it seem like you really can improve by playing blitz chess IF you follow a strict set of guidelines while doing so.
