Why was MSC157 muted??????!! MSC case #2

I like MSC too! We've been very friendly always. I just don't know why he insisted on doing something when he was repeatedly and politely asked not to.
Just to put my two cents in..
I like the kid very much and I also understand why he had to be muted.
And for the life of me, I could never understand why anyone would feel the need to compulsively post "first page" on the first page of the daily puzzle, like so many do. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. Where is the fun in that?
Slight case of OCD maybe?
I just hope for some leniency. It's not a bad guy.

*shrug*. The point is he ignored it, even when staff asked that he stop.

The Daily Puzzle is just one small gimmick that the folks here use to get people involved in some small activity and chatter. He started posting his solutions before it got going and was told to stop it by the powers that be. He didn't listen. He got the muzzle. Maybe he'll learn some important lesson or something from it all.

He got leniency a few months ago when he was muted, for just a few days, for exactly this same issue -- refusing to stop posting above the puzzle after being asked/told to stop by the staff.
As he is a repeat offender, I don't see why he should get any leniency this time around.

He's been asked over and over again not to post the answers to the daily puzzle, especially by trying to post BEFORE the daily puzzle, and he doesn't care about the request. He's been asked probably 6 times to stop doing it.
When will he be unmuted?
Maybe in 30 days he can request an unmute along with a commitment to stop spoiling it.
Lol, he didn't even spoil it. And he changed the comment afterwards! Makes no sense!
He was asked REPEATEDLY to stop. He chose not to. Life has consequences.
Yup. Death.

Its a daily puzzle that people like to try and solve. That becomes moot when the answer is posted for all to see.
If you solved the puzzle, very cool. When you are asked to stop so others have a chance to solve it, and you are repeatedly asked not to post the answer, and you ignore those warnings? You get muted.
The uncontrollable need to do that, and the need to post "first" im sure try to satisfy some internal need.

The Daily Puzzle is one of the features of the site, and some employee that is being paid 10s of thousands of dollars a year puts up these puzzles to be solved. So, blowing the puzzle or messing with the first page in some annoying way is like taking a portion of that money and setting a match to it. I'm actually incredulous it's been allowed to continue for this long...
The best way to solve this would be to disallow comments directly on the puzzle post to begin with. If people want to post comments, let them start a thread for it.
This is the same thing you see in online games everywhere. If you allow users to mess with things, they inevitably will. Just remove any and all possibilities for it, and save on customer service costs. Always assume that if a feature can be abused, it will be abused, and go from there.
That might sound like overkill, but making systems and processes bulletproof is what I do for a living ;).

Perhaps MSC will be released early on the merit of "good behavior" when he goes before the parole board in two weeks.

Also.. he did'nt answer my last question in his Ask Me Almost Anything thread.
I can't stop laughing. Serves him right!!

Ya Think?
Looks like MSC is trying to post in this thread. Wonder what he's trying to say.
Probably just whining about how it's not his "fault", and he shouldn't be blamed for exploiting a bug to be a disruptive troll. Same thing he did last time he was muted for this exact same behavior.
I wonder how many more times it will take before he learns the obvious lesson.

Well... regardless of the extent to which it is or isn't his fault, if the staff really doesn't want people posting before the daily puzzle, then it should make it technically impossible to do so by fixing the programming. I don't think that's terribly difficult.

You might not think it's terribly difficult, but apparently it is...
There is a bug. There is a very very slight delay in between system clocks by just a few seconds. It's not a super easy thing to fix, and not something we want to spend a lot of time on given everything else we are doing.
People DID get upset and asked that he stop.
