I wasn't born for any purpose, except the ones I happen to give myself along the way.
Why were you even born?
The purpose of all life is procreative. Chess is a wonderful distraction from the various barriers we more intellectually evolved life forms (i.e. homo sapiens) may face, made even more enjoyable when combined with the consumption of that most sacred of libations, beer. Cheers!

To answer the posted question, there was this little accident around St. Patrick's Day, and I popped out in January. That's the why and pretty much everything else.
Are you so caught up in chess and improving your FIDE score and take a loss so seriously that you get at least momentarily despondent enough to wonder what your purpose on this Earth is, why you were even born or have to suffer so?
I'm not. But then again, I haven't spent years trying to become a world champion.
