Why would someone buy a chess clock instead of downloading a free app?

People often use an app clock instead of real analog or digital clock.

So my question is what are the main advantages with a real clock over an app clock, why should someone buy a clock and spend money instead of just downloading a free app?

I always prefer real clocks as I'm a big fan of chess and all the chess equipment and I told my friends who are around C, B class players to get a clock on which they asked me, why? Why should I spend money on a clock if everything I can get on my app for free .

I need some strong points or compromise why they need to spend money and actually buy a chess clock

The same reason someone would want to play OTB chess for fun rather than just play online.

The chess clocks have more features like where to start the game

For one thing you don't have people tapping furiously on your phone.

Are we talking about OTB games?

If so, getting a clock with two easy-to-bang levers makes the game much easier to play. Additionally, I think I paid about $35 for my clock, which has all the bells-and-whistles like incremental time, etc. and if it gets banged out of use, it's a lot cheaper to replace than my smartphone or tablet.

If you've played in OTB tournaments, you know the player just finishing a move often hammers the lever/button with his hand, especially if there isn't a lot of time on his clock or if he wants to shake you up after some surprise move.  Do you want that to happen to a phone or tablet?

You can't even have a phone in a FIDE event, so that would limit their use in official play. I also would want strangers banging on my phone screen.

Another benefit of a clock is that their batteries last a long time.

I think that batteries last long time it's a good point! Very good actually, as some of my friends don't play blitz but rather classic or rapid so If I tell them they should buy a real clock, just coz their phone will not get furiously tapped they will just not consider that point!

They will say we are not professionals and we play sometimes and long time controls so we don't need spend money on a real clock.

But person make a comment on a battery use is actually very strong argument! 👍

Pretty much this. It's probably fine in casual games though.
