Will there ever be a point you'll be content with yourself?

If I'll ever reach 1800 in Live Standard, I'll say to myself: Boy, you went places ... and then get myself a beer out of the fridge.

What's the barrier in your Chess career which you will need to cross to be actually proud of yourself?

Likely no, but that's part of the fun.  Improvement never ends.

Every 100 points is a small victory, and I can take some pride in those milestones.  1800 is class A... which is the first letter in the alphabet, so that's a good one.  Bigger is 2000 because the first number is different.  Even bigger is 22/2300 because you can call yourself a "master."  And of course each title after that.

I remember thinking... if I can only make it to 1300 I could stop caring about improvement.  Man, those 1300s really know how to play.  Well 1300 came and I realized how little I still knew.  On to 1500!  etc.

I'm content with myself, but I can always be more content! Still, I have to admit, 2000 seems a lot bigger than 1970.

The only folks ever content with themselves are the one's that are not perfectionist.
