Will Wesley So be unbeaten for more games than Mikail Tals longest streak
He's been lucky not to lose several games in his streak.
And he will never be World Champion.
His play is a mystery to me. He can definitely dethrone Magnus - but first he has to get to the candidates and win that. The possibility is definitely there.
It's not impossible, but it will be very, very tough for Wesley So to break the longer of Mikhail Tal's undefeated streaks (95) because Wesley's games have been and will be mostly against elite players in elite-level tournaments. If he goes thru Gashimov Memorial, Altibox Norway, Torneo Magistral de Ajedrez Ciudad de Leon and Sinquefield Cup undefeated, it will be one really for the record books. Of all these tourneys, the biggest test will be Altibox Norway, where all of the Top 10 FIDE players will play.
Since his defeat to Giri in the 2nd match of 3rd Wenzhou Grandmaster Match in September 2017. Ding Liren is now undefeated in 73 games in classical games (till 26th May 2018). Can he beat his country man record of Wang Yue and also that of Tal.
