Win or lose

A tie is as good as a loss.

So when you play the outcomes are predetermined...there is a winner and a loser.

Get better at chess and the outcomes do not change

This makes no sense. It cannot be known beforehand by anyone not omniscient and I doubt this is what you're asserting. And getting better at chess means the only way your win/loss record will stay the same is by having equally skilled opponents... and I doubt this is what you mean.

What you're missing is a conclusion, maybe. This and this, therefore that.

Are you deciding it's hopeless and quitting?

The possible outcomes are known and no matter how good you get there must be one of those outcomes.

Guess what....getting better and the outcome remains the same. You just beat or lose to better players.

You're overthinking it.

It not only goes without saying that there cannot be an impossible outcome, known beforehand or not... it's a truism, and not useful as an argument for anything, like 2 + 2 = 4. Yes, because 2 + 2 is just another name for 4.

You have the same thing on both sides of your equation.
