Truth: There's never been an example of phyletic evolution accompanied by a major morphological transition in species. The Cambrian explosion as reffered to in litetature show us the instant creation of life in situ, all at once, there are no fossils in the pre cambrian strata.

Truth #2 God has spoken and acted in various and sundry ways throughout history, especially through his son, Jesus.

Truth#3 God didnt " magically" create Adam and Eve, for that implies deception, rather he thoughtfully and purposely created them which implies omniscience and power.

It is completely off-topic. It is not a matter of agree/disagree, but this topic has nothing to do with religion.

I'm NOT discussing religion. I'm trying to defend someone who was attacted for posting his beliefs.   Cervik, + Oogie Boogie started mentioning Jesus, AFTER Einstein gave his OPINION>

He derailed a thread that had nothing to do with religion by posting his religious beliefs in it. If he wants to go to the off topic subforum and start a thread about Jesus, that's fine. But derailing someone else's thread is inappropriate. And given the light hearted attitude on these forums in general, I'm not surprised that he got mocked.

Personally, I find it ironic that he chose the name and image of someone famously non-Christian as his screen name and avatar, given that he's that religious.

With all due respect, his beliefs are all about religion, an as such have no place here.

Aftet my 54 years upon this planet, I believe I can saywith a high degree of certainty that as things change on the surface, racially, ethnically, socially, sexually, some of the deeper underpinnings of mans and womens existance upon this planet remain the same ie.,the search for purpose and meaning in our lives, the desire to love and be loved, the pursuit of happiness, joy, peace, etc. Ill probably catch flak for what Im about to say,but I really dont care any more and dont say cr*p like, oh you're so narrow minded, you're so judgmental, you're stupid and ignorant to believe that stuff, etc.ad iinfinitum. Truth be known we were created to be in a close and loving relationship with our creator and outside of that relationship we die in every sense of the word for Jesus is life and in him only is there salvation. Now, I realize we live in a pluralistic, relativistic, secular society, where to speak such truths and absolutes is considered rude, insensitive, even hate speech, so get to hating me, I really dont care, because Ill be with my maker soon.

Ronald...this was Einstein's FIRST post in this conversation. It is about religion and completely off-topic.

All debate is healthy .... I find other peoples beliefs interesting ... whether I believe them or not is my choice and debatable, if I so choose. Thank goodness for free speech and open forums.

But this is not an open forum.

OK; let me try this; Einstein is trying to enlighten people with NO beliefs, on how to respect female chess players. (The topic of the OP). You have to acknowledge them as human beings, before you can let them in and join a club.BAtgirl's complaint was why didn't they get more publicity, and Einstein said he would get flak for his opinion. I'm just amazed at how MUCH flac he got.

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

Cervik, + Oogie Boogie need to exercise some restraint. The're all, "what about Jesus this, and Jesus that man?".  By doing that, the're insulting MY beleif system.   Let me add 1 more thing. I apologize to Batgirl, the mods, and anyone else who took offense to my post.

Avatar of rooperi

I probably fall in the category of having "no beliefs" (I assume you mean religious beliefs, everybody believes something, even if it is only that everybody else is wrong) and I respect female chess players.

Avatar of DarnCatz

I'm agnostic... which means I'm open to debate. However, there are certain people on here that I realise aren't. So I won't. I'm a lover not a fighter. Plus, I got talked out of joining the debate society at uni. It's like déjà Vu.

Its all interelated to the op's thread, Im suprised nobody caught that, although Ron alluded to that I believe. If men are going to respect women then they better respect God

first, otherwise their liable to treat them like "evolutionary" dogs as some would lead us to believe. If we cant respect

the one who made us then how are we going to respect

one another?

Avatar of rooperi

I respect women far more than I respect anybody's god. Yhe two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Avatar of bigpoison

Yeah, 'cause women are given so much respect in nearly every monotheistic cult.

Famous quote from the real Einstein "God doesnt play dice with the universe" - wander if he was speaking absolutely

or " relativistically"?

I sure wish God would stop burying my car in snow this month. We're looking at 6 more ins tomorrow. Its not a religious comment; its in line with the OP. "The Times Are A Changing"!

Oh goodie lets start quoting the real Einstein:

"It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I feel also not able to imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere. My views are near those of Spinoza: admiration for the beauty of and belief in the logical simplicity of the order which we can grasp humbly and only imperfectly. I believe that we have to content ourselves with our imperfect knowledge and understanding and treat values and moral obligations as a purely human problem—the most important of all human problems" - A. Einstein

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." A. Einstein

I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it." A. Einstein

Isn't there some FOX News forum quote to the effect of; its better to curse the darkness, then to light a candle.

We caught it, but disagree. It is like answering the question, "Who would win, Fischer or Carlsen?" with saying whoever believes in Jesus will win, and then going on for another paragraph about religion. The point of your post was CLEARLY to any intelligent person to espouse your religious beliefs, not to participate in the dialogue. If you are willing to be honest with us you will admit that, and move on.

These are not open forums, and religious and political discussions are explicitly against the rules.

There is an area specifically for the discussions you wish to have...you need to join this group...

http://www.chess.com/groups/home/open-discussion

You are allowed to discuss whatever you would like here, including religion and politics.

And so I do not have to respond. When someone asks, "I can discuss whatever I want here, including religion", you are wrong.
