I’m always losing in daily

I'm still fairly new, but what's helped me is just respecting basic opening principles:

- play for control of the center

- in the opening, don't move pieces twice: that gives your opponent an extra move

- develop your Knights and Bishops

- castle early

- double check every move to avoid blunders

- don't trade if the piece you trade is in a better position than your opponent's

I’m really bad in daily. I think it’s because people can just leisurely look up openings once they’ve seen what you are playing.

At my level, I'm not seeing that... as far as I can tell. Even though it's allowed, I still consider it cheating. This really isn't generally played online as something meant for study, as "correspondence" chess, it's played as competition, so players should not be getting outside help. I wish they were differentiated so that we could be clear both sides are playing by the same rules.
