so far there haven't been any major unsets. low 2700 losing to high 2500 or 2600 is no big deal, I believe a 100 fide point difference is about 2/3 winning chance for the higher rated player.
One correction, there was one big upset Gelfend knocked out by a 2512 player.
I'm looking at all the draws and losses of the 2700+ Super GM`s at the World Cup, and I'm asking myself, `why is this happening?` Could it be that they are so used to playing only other Super GM`s that they're thinking these 2500 and 2600 players are going to be a cakewalk? Only to find out that these are also strong GM`s, maybe not as consistent as the Super Elite, but still perfectly capable of beating strong competition. Or, are the Super GM`s going into tie break rapid games on purpose, thinking they'll have a better chance mixing it up in a rapid game. What do you all think?
