Would Kasparov have beaten Fischer?

Some say that Fischer pulled out because he was afraid of Kasparov. Others say he pulled out because he felt that he had done what he set out to do and didn't need to prove anything more. What do you guys think?

I really think Kasparov as the best chess player. This is my opinion though.

ahm..u saying karpov ? Fischer declined karpov

but if u r comparing between fishcer and kasparov ..yes kasparov was a better chess player..

but fishcer had more impact in the whole world because he fought alone against a mighty Russian army and made alot of contributions to this beautiful game

When Fischer quit Kasparov was twelve years old. I doubt that Fischer had ever heard of him.

Reuben Fine, world-class player.and licensed psychologist, knew Fischer for all of Bobby's career. Before the Spassky match Fine predicted that if Fischer won he would never play again. We know Fischer had mental problems and Fine knew that Bobby's ego was entirely dependent on his chess success. He just couldn't face the possibility that he might lose his title. He wasn't afraid of anyone in particular, he was just terrified of the possibility of losing.

Bobby Fischer is the reason the majority of the world uses the increments on the clock now. He has/had a patent for that clock.  I think Bobby would've been brilliant at anything he devoted his life to,  not just chess.

But it was Karpov not Kasparov when Bobby forfieted his title, some says he feared Karpov, and Garry Kasparov was not even in the picture when all this happened.
