Do i have eye problems or is black having no king in this above picture? And therefore the game ended in stalemate when i was totally winning, it might be a method of making sure that the computer is always winning

p.s. i'm not sure if the post shows the picture but the FEN is

8/8/1K6/6R1/1p5P/1P6/1P6/8

I can't see any picture. It's never done that with me but obviously different users use the program differently and expose bugs I never see. Can you remember what you were doing when the King dissappeared?

I was just playing it, and i had chosen some other backgrounds while the computer was thinking, and after i made my move the king suddenly disappeared

Here is an attempt to post the picture, sorry if the picture is too big

I've just released the current version 12.1 - it now manages to look further ahead and understands such things as colour bias. It also has some pretty new chess pieces that I found. Its playing stronger as well. I can't make the king dissappear so I hope that issue has gone.

Fun chess

Now released version 12.3 - it is now much stronger. This is a bit depressing for me as I can't beat it anymore. If a stronger player could play it and give me an idea of it's strength (tell me what level you're playing on to) I'd appreciate it.

Well? is it any better? or has all the fun gone out of it now it wins?

Easy tiger!

Give me a few minutes.

(I refuse to play level 9 because it takes too long {that's not fun}).

p.s. I've just come back from the pub, so please excuse my pathetic efforts.

So it lasted quite a bit longer, though I made some alcohol induced errors.

Sorry about the delay, dinner time.
I never took more than five seconds to move and must have averaged around three seconds.

My impressions: the program plays pretty well for moving so quickly, more work is required.

Thanks for giving it a game and giving me some feedback. It's currently playing better than me so I find it very difficult seeing what to improve now. Looking at the game I can see 2 questionable moves by the program: 6) Bb4+ just gave the initiative to you while 9) Nfd7 allowed you to have the huge pawn structure and all the space. I guess it should of exchanged to free up some space or initiated some sort of minority attack on your pawn chain.

Obviously you're playing it on level 6 which is an average club player level so you will have the advantage but I'm quite pleased it lasted so well - last time you beat it in 20 or so moves while this time it took nearly 70 moves.

Very well played by the way!

The program is definitely getting better, less glaring errors.

Btw.... I think that Level 6 is plenty, after four swift pints of Stella! Laughing

I estimeated level 6 of the original funchess version and its rating is 1104 which would be 1502 or close to that in chess.com terms

The new version is much stronger than the old version you played before. Are you saying it's still playing around 1104? I would find this hard to believe as the new level 6 now destroys the old program at all levels. Have you played the new version?

I've recently (last week) created a chess program. It's still very early days in it's development but I was wondering if anyone could give it a quick game and offer some constructive feedback (missing features, user interface, things I'm missing when evaluating a position, etc). It plays pretty quickly as it currently doesn't look that far ahead.

el hardo : you can change the level by clicking the brain icon. Just keep clicking it till it goes to 2 or 3 and then try playing it again.

Yes, the problem with level 10 in unlimited time is that it takes so much time. I mean, after the first few moves it will think for a whole minute every move, whether it is a simple queen trade or an endless losing endgame. It just tears you out :)

Blitz mode is my favourite since it actually has a time limit and will think for about 5 seconds for each move. It can still blunder a piece from time to time, but it generally plays better than before indeed. I can still beat it every time though.

I played one unlimited time with 10 to post here, I added my thoughts there you go:

I would probably rate it around 1450-1500 rating here on chess.com. Frankly, I could beat it every time, and I definitely could not say the same when playing blitz with 1500+.

By the way, you can trigger "show legal moves", but can't turn it off. Oh, and I still don't understand how I can copy the notation.

Yes, the problem with level 10 in unlimited time is that it takes so much time : I agree but level 10 is one minute per move and so that's what the program uses. If I can work out a way of reducing the time used in hopeless situations then I'll do this. I could also remove that level and just add another level lower down.

I would probably rate it around 1450-1500 rating: Oh well - more work to do then Frown I'm not sure whether it just does badly against certain styles of play as it seems to do fine against many players.

you can trigger "show legal moves", but can't turn it off : Just click the little square with the red dot again. This turns legal moves on and off. It only operates when it's your turn.

I still don't understand how I can copy the notation: I'm currently working on this. At the moment you have to copy the screen image which is obviously unacceptable. There will soon be a text box that you can copy the PGN format for the game and also enter games or board positions in FEN format.

Are there any things you can see that the program is doing wrong all the time?

Thanks for your feedback by the way.
