Your 2010 New Year's CHESS RESOLUTION

Sort:
chsskrazy

to do better on games

gcamaster

become at least 1300 uscf again

talley_LvNv

I love studying games, old and recent. My resolution would be to start studying and competing again after years of inactivity.

Chess should be apart of any healthy & balanced life style ; )

Does anyone have a progress report on their 2009 resolution?

Mine was to break 2000 and sustain a rating above it, however while having accomplished that on paper, I don't really feel like I've attained it fairly since my winning streak of late is against lower rated players than I (the result a combination of playing exclusively tournament and team matches for the latter half of the year while I've improved to my current performance level and a need to ramp down my game load in advance of my vacation at the end of the year preventing me from starting games with more fairly matched opponents).

For 2010?  Develop and master an opening repertoire is probably a good goal for me.

Mine was to hit 2300 as top rating and consistently stay above 2200.

Next year:

1. Cut down on number of games and spend some more time studying with the great tools available on here (and read some of my chess books!).

2. Play almost exclusively against very strong players (except challenges from friends and team matches).

3. Get back into OTB playing.
