Your highest/lowest opponent ever

Do you remember who was your opponent with the highest/lowest ELO you  ever played against? and did you won?

Mi highest rated opponent was a guy in my first OTB tournament, he had an FIDE ELO of 2132. I was white and started with 1.e4 he played the Caro-Kann. The game was fairly balanced until I made a blunder and lost a piece.

My lowest rated opponent is a guy whose in another chess site his ELO is 888 and he is currently playing black and so far our game goes: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Bd6? 2.d4.

What about you?

My stronger opponent OTB was GM Jaacob Murey. It was the first round of a 2h KO tournament.

He played 1.c4 e5 2.Nf3 and crushed me very easily, using 12mins for the whole game (1h45 for me). He thought about 15s when I left the book and about 1min a few moves later to choose a plan. Then he just build an irresistible attack against my king. I saw it coming but was unable to do anything against it.

He was very nice during the analysis and showed me some ideas in the opening. When I reviewed the game later with my then chess teacher, he told me : "you played well, but he [the GM] has probably played the variation 500 times in blitz games, so you stand at a disadvantage here".

My stronger opponent in a simultaneous display was GM Ivanchuk.

In simultaneous displays my strongest opponents were GM Suetin, Sveshnikov, Postny. With Sveshnikov I played blitz:  1.5 minutes vs. 5 minutes.

How fortunate you have been!

My highest & lowest have been class A(1800-1899) & class D(under 1400), absolute lowest probably about 1000.  I have both lost and won against both categories.

how fortunate you were to play GMs. that's great.

the highest rated player i've ever played is a guy in our club rated 2630 (IM). i never even come close to winning vs. him. he even rakes me when he's had a lot of beer. my best win was against a master in our club: 2053. i got him with the english: 1.c4 2.g3.

my worst loss was against a 1000ish player.

I played against a 2000 rated 16 year old (High School Team). He played the ruy lopez and we eventually played to a draw (A surprise since he beat everyone else in the conference very easily). Anyway, it turns out he is being taught by United States Champion GM Yuri Schulman.

Once, I had a dream that I played God in Chess.  I guess that would be my highest rated opponent, since He used His mind reading powers to see what I was going to do next.

My lowest opponent was No-Armed Pete, an old war veteran whose arms were blown off during the local Fourth of July celebration in 1966.  He likes to play chess, but since he has no arms he can't move the pieces.  He tries to move them around by picking them up with his mouth and placing them on a different square, but normally he ends up knocking over the smaller pieces.  Once, he choked on a pawn.  Another time he lost to a dog.  He was my lowest opponent ever.
