I read it 4 times, manavendra, and I still don't understand your post. Does that help in anyway?
Your Intelligence is my Common Sense

You should reply to your girl-friend's barbed remark: "I’d agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong" - unless you want to keep her!

I suffer from the same condition!
('suffering' is more a manner of speech here than a true description of my feelings.)

Okay Trysts and RC_Woods, Common Sense is the most uncommon thing found in common people because common sense is the result of uncommon intelligence being developed in a common parental environment which is commonly called common sense and maybe paralled with intelligence in some uncommon people, and most uncommon intelligent people may have less common sense in varying degrees.
If you cannot understand the above post, then don't worry it's a common problem found uncommonly in a few uncommon places among common people.

Hi Artfizz, how can we'd both be wrong. What's the logic? Plz elaborate.

I would rather dump her than jeopardize my search for the answers I am seeking to.

The relationship between common sense and intelligence: Common sense is common knowledge. Knowledge isn't intelligence.
I don't know if that was what you were looking for because of the poor grammar in your post.

Thanks for the 'grammar' enlightment, since english is not my first language, I will try to work on it. But what you replied is not what i was exactly looking for. It's 7:30 pm here, I am about to finish my 6th Vodka and it's complicated.

Your g/f is insinuating that she's smarter than you.
The tack I would take - if she were my g/f - is: "if you're so smart, how come you ended up with a bozo like me?" ... but it's your call.

I think she was trying to say that you don't have common sense. How did I get that from your disorganized mess of words up there? I'm not sure.
Just tell her to go make you a sammich and be done with it.

manavendra, your intelligence is not my common sense. And my intelligence is not your common sense.
Also, refer to post #13
I guess, you are trying to say that Intelligence and Common Sense are mutually exclusive with no relation between them. To me intelligence is based on book learning and memory. The ability to compile information and recall it.
Common sense is the ability to adapt to any situation by accurately APPLYING what you have learned, either by book learning or by experience and the ability to see ahead the outcome, good or bad. This is also called WISDOM.
Common sense requires being able to weigh all options based on probabilities and past experiences and be able to have a PROFITABLE outcome by the choice you make.
I have found many who have book learning, or who specialize or who are focused in one area, often times do not have much common sense.
Intelligence is raw material - an ore if you will, a resource to be mined. Common sense is practical - applied knowledge acquired through observation and experience. common sense is largely in the eye of the beholder. Intelligence is (slightly) more objective, and can be measured in various ways. The most famous way is IQ.
Common sense is a slippery concept and usually varies greatly from person to person. One person's common sense is another's idiocy.
It's a popular myth that Chess players are more intelligent than average. However, I was dissapointed to learn from a non-Chess player that "Your intelligence is my Common sense". Why I decided to post it here is because it came from my girl-friend. Since, I am neither a feminist nor a woman, I want to know is "Your intelligence is my common sense" a correct rationale from the view-point of non-Chess playing women and other non-Chess playing men in general in overall description of relationship between Intelligence and Common Sense.
