No, 90 and 93 is correct. It's explained in the second post.

Oh.

Hmmmm...I could make a surgically placed teacher reference here and something about following directions...... but it just proves highly intelligent people make mistakes... Laughing

I got a 7/10 out of the original test, but I did get number #2.

This just shows how stupid IQ tests are:

In question 1, the whale is the only mammal, and no doubt that is the intended solution. But the pike is the only freshwater fish, which is another important consideration.

In question 3, the intended solution is clearly Hermes, but Venus is the only goddess.

Question 7 is the most stupid of all. All the cities have been capitals, except for Bombay. Rio is not the current capital of Brazil, but it was for hundreds of years. Surely this is a more important consideration than which hemisphere the city is in.

It seems that to score well in IQ tests you need to have very poor general knowledge.

You are mistaken if you think it is a genuine IQ test. Therefore your conclusion is baseless. Take a real one, then tell us your conclusion.

My score on that test was within 5 points of my score on a real, professionally administered one. Seems pretty close.

Despite what naysayers say (isn't that a fun phrase) IQ tests are statistically significant. I don't think they are relevant across cultures, but within the culture they are designed for, it's valid, and distributed as one would expect any biological trait to be.

Of course, they say nothing about common sense. Wink

I had Elaine take the test for me but she screwed up.

9/10 for me. Missed the hemisphere question (#7), but then geography was never my strong suit Undecided. I too was thinking about the cities as capitals, and they said Washington, but not Washington DC, so I picked that one. Fail.

According to the chart, that's IQ 151.

QED, chess has nothing to do with IQ!
