A player can only win when they have enough material for a checkmate. With only a king, there is no way a player could ever check mate the opponent, even with all the time in the world. So, when the player times out, the best result possible, a draw.

Kohai, I probably did not explain myself good enough. I had more than enough material for a checkmate, and was about to get a second queen (the window allowing this was opened)

I was about to turn my pone into a queent having 5 minutes to play. I got the screen with the exchange possibilities, and a that point the screen froze. My time still ticked, and when in ended I got the message "Game drawn insufficient material", and the game was declared as a draw.
What's happening?
