Accepting draw offer

In one of my games my opponent offered a draw, the game window says "You have a pending draw offer". But there is no button like "accept draw offer". Is it a bug or should I visit my doctor for a severe diagnosis of my optical capabilities?

Was this in live chess or online chess?

I have the same question - I offered a draw, and my game says "you have a pending draw offer" - does something show up if you are offered a draw?

jaclyn

It means that you offered the draw :) Thats just to let you know that your opponent hasn't decided on a draw yet.

If you're offered a draw it will say your opponent has offered a draw, and you'll be able to accept or deny it.  Hope that helps sort things out!

Thanks jac1yn!  I appreciate your reponse!

Hm...its in online chess. And the draw was offered by my opponent - I got an email that announced it! In the concrete case it's solved now, because in response to his offer (that I couldnt accept) I offered myself and he accepted. Tried some things with clearing browser cache and the other tricks to solve typical browser problems but the button never appeared. Next offer will come, then we will see.

Well I got a draw offer in an automated email generated by chess.com and would like to know how to turn it down. The guy is trying to string it out.

Where in the interface do you say no?

Thanks

Frasbury

Oh one other thing the opponent generated a draw offer without moving when it was his turn.

In the game you should have "accept" and "deny" options for replying to a draw.

However, if you don't want to accept the offer you don't have to reply at all. When you move, the offer is automatically denied. If it's his turn to move, nothing changes: He has to move eventually, at which point you can still accept the draw or move and decline it (so even if you want to accept you should probably wait for his move, in case he blunders).

I was offered a draw during a tournament but thankfully now the problem of accepting has been resolved.

@kevsha77- Was this online chess or live?

this all looks familiar. I received a automated chess.com e-mail for a draw offer. clicked the button to go to the game and was unable to accept the draw only resign and stuck in conditional moves.

I want to accept but cannot. it is my move and time is running out - i cannot move and cannot accept offer

@london717- Which game is this happening in?

udb_1993

i am just saying if u have sent opponent a draw offer then it shows  also-you have a pending draw offer. so have you sent it or the opponent .(remember)

london717

game is Kelda vs. London717 ...

first instance Kelda offered and I answered via the e-mail -- something i dont do but now i have a smartphone so thought i would try. position seems to have released  after a day by kelda moving (we have conversation to side)

seems that kelda decided to move and put the ball back in my court... i immediatly offered a draw and again nothing except positions reversed.

jaclyn

Does it not offer you the option to accept the draw, or when you click it does it not do anything/give you a server error?

london717

there was no option to accept the draw - only resign. am now waiting for Kelda to answer to current position. I have never had problems with making or accepting a draw before - so am a bit confused.
