Account Disabled?

Apparently, the only explanation you can get is along the lines of "you should have known better".

You would get a fairer treatment in North Korea in terms of due process and transparency.

Based on this post alone I expect my account to be closed by the end of the week. You must not dare criticize chess.com. I don't give a rat's arse about this since I am 1) not a subscriber so whatever, and 2) there are better alternatives.

Sooner or later they will tick off a lawyer with too much time on his/her hands, and there will be lot of fun. Sit back and get popcorn.

Cheers.

The site doesn't normally close accounts without warning with the exceptions of fair play violations, extreme TOS violations, and spamming. Sometimes return accounts get closed without warning too, but I'm guessing that is a little more rare.

thetoolman

Marting_Stahl: This business does exactly that. The person sitting  in the office next to me had her account closed abruptly. No explanation. No proof. Nothing. What's next coming from chess.com? Shipping off to a gulag or a labor camp?

What really will come around to bite them is use of word 'conviction' without offering a fair process. That seems to be a philosophical discussion, but with the booming snowflake culture it will become unacceptable at any level sooner rather than later.

Martin_Stahl

Again, it doesn't happen like that. It could be possible that one account from a location got closed for a violation and there can be checks to see if there were multiple accounts; in that case it could be possible that other accounts were closed due to that.

The profile of the account shows a general reason. What does that person's profile show?

A 'This account was disabled' message comes up. It started mid game on Android app when trying to move a piece. Cannot login any more. Regardless, chess.com need to give their head a shake.

 What is the username?

This is kind of a one sided conversation don't you think toolman.?  You talk about a fair process but yet you and the girl in the office next to you are playing chess on your employers time.??

Bad_Dobby_Fischer

lol

Are you laughing about gulags? Think twice bud. One more joke about them and I will send you straight to Nazino.

I just spoke to the Chess.com communication dept. It appears that the employer,--who for the purposes of THIS thread will be referred to as, "Mr Body".  Our phone records indicate that Mr Body phoned Chess.com last week and spoke to Erik with a complaint. It seems that he doesn't want his employees getting paid to play chess on company time. He wants to fire many of his employees but with this booming snowflake economy, it will soon become unacceptable to legitimately fire someone for that offense. surprise.png  He then presented Mr Erik with some IP addresses and instructions to disable any accounts originating from those addresses. Mr Erik's reply was, "Roger Wilco"happy.png       P.S.,  is the girl in the office next to you single.?

Sorry dude but your 1910s humor is no longer fun. Snowflakes? A true snowflake is an old dying man crying about the coal jobs not being in America anymore.

Well we've ALL worked for Mr Body before, and we've ALL had our accounts disabled. I believe the accounts are being disabled by the cook in the cellar with the pipewrench.wink.png                                                                                                                                null

Nice try, but you are talking to Mr. Body. And this lady happens to be my business partner. In a way she is Ms. Body.

I was paid to play and coach a chess team on the company's time.  Of course, I was a teacher and the sponsor of the Chess Club.  I was also USCF Tournament Director for the tournaments held in our countywide school system.

Of course, I didn't play chess while teaching chemistry lab!

ilosesleepoverchess

wait so having an account like mine is illegal?

I sorry you had negative experience.

Customer service representative volunteer Grobula at your service.

I once served poker chips at an all night gambling do, so I have experience with service.

Look at me, I am example for all.

I have been around since 2012 here but much longer in the chess world

How old I am no one will guess

You must accept whatever the powerful do.

They will do what they want, when they want.

Acceptance is the fifth stage in the seven-step program.

For instance, I got blocked from the forum thread, "Magnus Carlson start-up stock invest in this!" because I was critical of the stock. I will not invest my treasure hoard in the stock market, when I have done so well lately with gold bullion.

Yet do you see me complaining about my blockade?

Yet I maintain, that the wise man will invest in gold bullion, and not in the stock of a start-up company.

Last time I had poker chips they tasted like plastic.  They wouldn't even give me a refund.
