Ads using all cpu and makes it impossible to play fast

Hi

first, it's just a "little" complain. I'm gratefull this website exists and I understand the need for ads... but since it switched to html ads, it is taking all my cpu, almost freezing my browser and sometimes, yes, telling me that a script (ads... something....js) had been running for a long time and asking me to stop it or not... but it won't stop, I need to restart my browser.

Plz fix this as soon as you can (even now, the ads on the forum are slowing my whole computer, a new one, I run all the latest games without a problem at high res)

argh, I miss the flash ads now...

Is it every ad, or just particular ones? Specific ones can be reported via https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1e14nvbrbRJv7jhxWhjtAAef3FgdIEy9AzMTPjvhsEgs/viewform?c=0&w=1, but if it's all of them, there might be something else going on, although it sounds like you know what you're doing. If that's the case, it's probably best to log a Support ticket.

Hey

almost every ad yeah...

As for the link I understand it will block the ads ? but I don't want to do that. This is a free service and they need them to run it.

I'll start reporting them then...

thx

But even free services shouldn't have so many ads that they significantly affect PC performance or bandwidth. I'd say, in your case, they've gone too far and should be dealt with in an appropriate manner.

Download an ad blocking extension like uBlock.  Problem solved.  You can even whitelist some of the ads if your wish.

This is flawed thinking.  You are not obligated to expose your machine by allowing code from unapproved 3rd parties to run.

Yep, malvertising attacks from ad servers is becoming a significant problem.

I disagree.  It's been a significant problem for a long time.

Use AdBlocker or buy a premium account.

Adblock solves your problem with ads. Also, you don't have to play chess here. At least one other website is totally free with no ads. Can't tell you what it is because Big Brother is watching.

Use Pig Latin. Big Brother will be none the wiser. Wink

This has been happening to me a lot lately as well. Actually, now that I think about it, I seem to recall encountering slowdown issues similiar to this on another website after it had changed the way it ran it's advertisements. Perhaps some complaints are warranted.

listen, it is completely helpful to remove yourself from this website.
