Analysis board doesn't work

The "position setup" and "game editor" tabs don't work for the analysis board. Just wanted to bring that to attention, since they sometimes would be useful to have.

Also, it'd be pretty cool to be able to copy the PGN from somewhere and clean out all the comments. I often like to offer analysis for others' games, but have to spend quite a long time simply deleting past comments every time, which is a bit of a nuisance sometimes.

You need to describe your OS, PC, ISP and browser for these sort of issues.

Many of the glitches here are random and temporary. Read my blog and see if something in it helps. If not and the problem persists contact the staff directly via Help & Support.

They've been working just fine for me NachtWulf & I use the Game Editor every day-never had that problem.  Are your browser & Java fully up to date?

In what way don't they work?  What do you expect to happen and what is/isn't happening on there for you?

Not sure what we can do about the suggestion as yet.

Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1. Dell Inspiron 1525. Google chrome. No clue about the ISP.

Analysis board itself works. I get there by More > Game Editor. Pieces move correctly, all the arrow keys (both > and >> in both directions) work. None of the check boxes do anything: coordinates won't show up (got them memorized anyway), board won't flip (not terrible, but certainly would be nice feature to have available), and legal moves are always enforced (I don't see why they shouldn't be).

My issue is that when I click the "position setup" or "game editor" tags, all the pieces disappear, the board turns a checkered gray and white, and arrow keys make "ghost pieces" move when I click. For instance, if I input a couple pawn moves when in the default analysis board tab, then click "position setup", I can click ">" to watch some pawn appear for a split second and move, only to disappear once it reaches its destination. The thing is, those pawns don't even move to/from the correct position on the board. Playing through 1. h4 g5 2. hxg5 results in awhite pawn fly straight forward, a black pawn fly straight from the opposite direction, and a white pawn moving diagonal, presumably as if it were making a capture. However, these ghost pawn moves occur at the upper center of the board, nowhere near the h4 or g5 squares no matter which side you play. Same goes for game editor.

Long story short, the analysis board operates on a minimally-functioning level, which I appreciate (can't find many clean and fast-loading chess boards out there on the web), but it's missing some cool stuff that's supposed to be there. Thanks for the feedback and concern!

Edit: I will try stuff suggested by Nimzo, and post what happens.

I'm using Chrome on Windows 7 as well & can't remember ever having problems like you are having with Game Editor. My laptop is a Samsung but I really don't think your PC is the problem.

Have you tried downloading the latest versions of your browser & Java (if you don't already have them set to update automatically) & checked that you have Javascript enabled ?

For example, my Chrome is Version 23.0.1271.91 m but it's telling me to relaunch it in order to finish updating-I think Chrome updates automatically by default. As for Java, I had to go into it's settings to set it to automatic updates. Javascript is usually enabled by default so as long as you havn't ever disabled it, that should be o/k.

As a matter of interest, do you have any problems when playing Online or Live chess on this site - do the pieces behave normally ?

Well this is interesting: it only happens at home. I think it's the internet provider and/or speed. Oh well, looks like the problem's on my end.

The analysis button has been completely missing the last couple days; when I go to the games from the facebook link. I just tried it from the Chess.com and the button is there.
