I have recently just got the app, so i will be keeping an eye on it.
Android Battery Drain
Battery drain here as well running ChessCom Android App v1.952 on HTC Sensation Android 2.3.4 with HTC Sense version 3.0. On Killing the App manually the battery drain gets considerably less, after removing the App idem. Running ChessCom reduces battery life to about 10-12 hours on my HTC Sensation after a full recharge.

Is Chess.com going to look into this problem? I really like to play on chess.com on the go, but the battery drain makes it really annoying.
Problem on Android 2.3.7, Sony Xperia S.
And I am also experiencing big battery drain on my Android since installing the chess.com app (Im not talking about drain using the app - I mean just having the app, and perhaps making 1 move a day on online chess is almost halving my battery life). I think it is running in the background (and waking the phone up periodically) even though I have turned off notifications.
I will have to uninstall it to compare, and be 100% sure it is the chess.com applet and not some other thing that coincidentally changed on the same day. I found using a task killer to kill the chess applet after use seemed to help, but that is not a real solution!
If it is the chess app then unfortunately I will have to uninstall for good and try to find some other way to play chess, which is a shame because other than that it is AWESOME. Does anyone know of another android online chess app without battery drain problem?
who else is having this (bettery use with chess.com android app) problem?
On the off chance a dev reads this - is this something you know about? (holding wakelocks by any chance? why should the app be doing anything at all when not in use - especially with notifications disabled)
I am using the latest current version on the android market - I notice some comments in the 'whats new' section suggest battery problems have been fixed, but it doesnt look that way from here.
(Problem on Motorola Defy 2.2, android chess.com app v1.990)

I started using chess.com over gameknot.com because the app. It is a great way to play on the go. However, the way it drains the battery forced me to uninstall the app. I hope there is a fix for this in the near future.

This problem is still going on.. I have Ver 2.0.13 and have tracked it down to chess.com app on my android. Huge battery level drops if I dont catch it. Love the app but this is a very big neg. I might start looking for a new one. Anyone find a better app that can be played from a computer and to a phone? My brother plays on a computer and I use my phone. Thanks.
I have the v1.68 of the Android app running on a Motorola Droid 2 and it drains the battery in no time flat. I would expect this if I was playing for hours on end but in this case when I leave the chess program and go to my home screen it seems to keep a connection and kills the battery. I seem to be able to use the "Kill" program to save the battery but if I forget to use "Kill" then a few hours later the phone is shutting off due to the chess.com connection.
Is this a feature that chess.com stays connected and kills the battery. I don't really want to log off all the time as I then have to retype my password the next time. If it logs me off itself then it saves my password. Maybe if you go to home screen then stop the connection or provide a "Save password" check button so I don't have to retype it all the time.
I am not having any of the other problems (that I have noticed). Thanks for the app.
