Apparent "Glitch" in Board Display or Connection Lag

I captured a Queen in a correspondence game. After the capture was loaded, the display showed the Queen on a different square, and my Bishop, which I used to capture the Queen, was placed on the square not having captured the Queen.
How is it possible that I am able to move in a Daily game that is not updated on the site? My internet connection is stable, but what was displayed on the game I was playing was not current. The system is still slow.
