I would like to understand how Arena Chess games are paired. I volunteer as a TD for scholastic tournaments and I am considering an Arena format. One of the challenges in the Swiss format for Scholastics is keeping the kids busy and thus out of trouble between rounds. In a recent scholastic tournament,with a G25/d5 time control, all of the K-2 games were finished in 15 minutes. But, the top 3 boards in the k-12 would go the duration taking 50 min to 1 hour. So you have 30+ min of mischief time. If arena pairings were used, they would have their next game within 5 min or so.
