Option for straight arrows with Knight moves

Last year a member of your team said that creating a secondary option for normal shaped knight moves "might not be the way to go". Can you elaborate on that and give a single reason except for laziness/convenience? Leaving the default as the current knight arrow and just adding a secondary option has literally zero downsides in my opinion.

Guys, this really should be one of chess.com’s priorities at this point. The L-shaped arrows might make sense for complete beginners (I understand they’re part of the community) but for the rest of us, trying to show knight paths this way looks so complicated, especially when rerouting is involved.
A good solution could be to keep L-shaped arrows as the default, but also let us change this in the “Board & Pieces” settings. I doubt it’s that complicated, it just seems like community requests aren’t being taken seriously.
