Audio inconsistent on the desktop

Ever since about the start of 2022 the sounds of piece moves is inconsistent, sometimes loud, sometimes less so.  I take it it's intentional? It's been driving me nuts to the point that I've pretty much stopped playing on the desktop. The mobiles client doesn't suffer the same issue. 

I haven't heard anyone else complaining about the problem.  

Have you looked at your computer's audio settings?  Perhaps one of the connections is loose.

No it's not that at all, normal audio is fine in all browsers and various websites. Even here it's consistent for any other sound then moving a piece. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet ...

Recently I have not been  getting any sounds of the pieces moving in live chess.  The sounds are fine for lessons and everything else I've tried. I'm also playing on a desktop. I find it harder to play without the sound cues.
