Please help, I am confused. The opponent starts flashing "Auto- resign," so I press resign, but then it says I lost, and rating goes down. Why I am punished for following instructions?

Auto resign means that the opponent will automatically resign in that time if they do not play a move.

Why I loose if I answer an incoming call or any other action outside the chess app ? Its it a poor app ?
