Lets say you're playing black and white's position is better.
If the best move gives an eval of 0.8 (meaning white is ahead the equivalent of 8 tenths of a pawn) and your move makes it go to 1.00 then the difference was 0.2 for that move. The average diff would be the average difference for all your moves.
An average difference of zero would mean over the whole game you played moves that the engine considered best (or equal to the best).
---
Best move percentage would be calculated by:
[number of moves made by a player that the engine considers best]
divided by
[total number of moves made by that player]
If half of your moves were "best" then you'd have 50%
---
Keep in mind that "best" is not literally best, but only what the engine considers best. Due to slightly limited software, limited hardware, and limited thinking time, sometimes what the chess.com engine considers best is not great, so statistics like these are just approximations.
Hey,
when using the Chess Analysis Board there are some points I understand (Excellent, Good, etc) but what is the meaning of Avg. Diff.?? The average difference from what? And how is the best move in percent? Like 29.7% of all moves were beste moves? I don't get it...please enlighten me
thanks!!
