To become a Chess.com affiliate, you don’t need to run a chess club or win tournaments—those things can help showcase that you're active in the chess community, but they’re not strict requirements.

Here’s what Chess.com officially requires to become an affiliate US Chess.org+6Chess.com Help Center+6Chess.com+6:

  • Your account must be at least 60 days old

  • You must be 18+ (per affiliate program rules)

  • You should be an active member—log in frequently, play games, engage in the community (forums, clubs, friendships)

  • Your account must be in good standing (no history of misconduct or abuse reports)

  • You must have a real identity listed—real name or a consistent alias

  • You need a valid email and list your real country of residence

  • Then, complete the affiliate application form

Winning tournaments isn’t mentioned anywhere in the program rules—so it doesn’t provide any direct benefit or guarantee.

⚙️ Running or participating in a chess club is cited as a positive signal, but merely being active in chess-related pursuits (like joining clubs or community groups) is sufficient—having your own club isn't mandatory.

If you're 18+, have a 60-day‑old Chess.com account, are active and in good standing, and you apply, you can become an affiliate—no club or tournament wins required.

🔍 What you should do next:

  1. Check your account age & activity — it should be older than 60 days, with consistent usage and community engagement.

  2. Ensure your profile details are complete—real name/alias, valid email, correct country.

  3. Apply via the Chess.com affiliate form.

  4. Boost your engagement—participating in clubs or tournaments may strengthen your application but aren't mandatory.
