Blackberry woes

Hi All,

I got a new Blackberry Storm 9530 today and thought I would try the mobile chess option.

So I D/L the software on my phone install it and then reach the login for mobile chess page. But handling this page is totally non-intuitive and I ended up, after about 1 hour of trial and error , finding that I need to press C to scroll down a field, R to scroll up a field and space to input into a field, followed by selecting Done from the Menu button options.

So I make it into the site and am faced with a white page saying "No games pending" after a brief search it made for games. There is nothing else to see on the pages apart from a "time left" message in the top right hand corner, and a Menu option in the bottom left. But I am unable to access this Menu in any way that I can find. Activating the keyboard means pulling up a keyboard display which covers up this Menu option anyway, so it is impossible to select it.

I must say I'm disappointed and frustrated with the whole thing.

What do I do now? Accept that it cannot work on the Blackberry?

it works with my blackberry, but i have the pearl, not the storm. we are not yet 100% compatible with touchscreens.

try the Q and P keys (or something like that on yours). those can access the menu items.

we are launching a new version this week that will hopefully address touch-screen issues more.

I have the same problem with the storm. I downloaded the program yesterday, so I'm assuming it's the updated version. I still cannot get it to work properly.  The button on the right side of the device accesses the menu, but to scroll up and down and select things I need the r,c, and q keys which require the keyboard.  Unfortunately, this covers up the entire menu.  Is there a patch or another updated app?

Why not just use the web browser and then use the touch screen ? Have you tried that ?

It's about three months since the original post, and still this issue persists.

I'll pay for the top membership once the application is made compatible with the Blackberry Storm. Hopefully this will get them working on it a bit quicker Wink
