Sorry about the typo error. My wife confirmed that we had the computer in mid 2007 (not1997 as stated earlier).
Sorry, missed a setp. After the 'settings' tab page, you will probably find an 'advanced' button first. If you brought the PC in 1997 that makes it 14 years old, it is probably running Windows 95. In which case it is most likely that the various browsers you have don't support all the latest JAVA features, or advanced HTML features. I don't know if chess.com use these, but if they do. I'm afraid your only real option would be to try one of the open source type browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, and you would probably need to get someone to build a version compatible with your PC just for you. Frankly, a later PC would probably be easire.
