Also in the last bughouse arena, when I had only played 1 game and waiting for the next game, someone else had played 5 games during the time that I was waiting to be paired for my 2nd game. Clearly there is something wrong with the pairings.

I might have realized what is causing the issue. If the vast majority of ppl request their partner as a pair, then the few remaining players might never pair due to their score, and then are waiting forever because of how the pairing algorithm works?
Is there any work to fix this problem? Some players are paired over and over again while other players just wait and are never paired.
If a player joins late (even by 6-7 minutes), it seems they are not paired at all.
