This is a draw rule called stalemate. Stalemate occurs when it's a player's turn, their king is not in check, and they have no legal moves.

There are more examples in this official article: https://www.chess.com/terms/stalemate-chess

yeah stalemate means tied. In my book that's not a tie. Honestly, I get you what you mean but it's a very stupid rule.
Then again, chess is an old game. I assume the creators didn't think of this situation. Although, I could be wrong. I'm just disappointed because I wanted a realistic board game strategy but all I got is war thunder arcade in the form of chess.

I understand when you start out that stalemate seems "stupid". Without going into it, just be assured that stalemate is an important rule in chess (because of standard pawn endgames).

It will take a little getting used to, but if you have tons of extra material over your opponent (like in your game), then just be aware of stalemate. Make sure your opponent has legal moves left, or deliver checks when in doubt. As you play more, it will become second nature to prevent stalemate.

Stalemate has pretty much always been part of the game. What it means has differed across time and in different regions.

In some instances or was a loss for the player that stalemated their opponent. In others, it was a loss for the stalemated plater. In others, and the rule that became standard, that it's a draw, which makes the game richer, in my opinion.

Generally speaking, most stalemates happen when a player in the lead isn't being careful. Some are basic drawn positions. When a forcing line comes up that leads to stalemate, those are interesting.

I understood all of that, but I was looking at it logically considering I indeed did trapped the king.
Lol, he's my slave.
