Yes, that is an option, but it takes some excitement out of the game: I am lost. If I move, my opponent is going to checkmate me. How about I stall? Will my partner be able to win his game? It's very exciting.
Also, what if taking any of the pawns of the board is bad? Let's say there is only one pawn on the board, and taking it leads to checkmate in one.
Right now we're focused on making V3 the best it can possibly be. Once V3 is up and running smoothly than we can consider additional variants for the site, but our priority is improving the overall experience first :)

Kirk, sometimes in the V3 tactics I am unable to move pieces, and must refresh the page leaving it to a new problem, and sometimes when I solve or fail a puzzle it says "Correct puzzle" and stops doing anything, until I refresh, nor do I recieve my points or lose any when I have to refresh.

I'm on the V3 Version right now, there are only two bugs as far as I can see!

There is a new version of Chess.com, dubbed V3. It looks different, and it has not been completely debugged. There is a link at the bottom of the page that says "Try the new Chess.com!"
